Summary

The purpose of this position is to manage all interactions with the business units and customers related to the implementation and maintenance of the different supply chain initiatives including third party logistics (where applicable) while also serving as a liaison between the European Business Units and Global Operations. Additionally ensuring customer service level, cost and shipment quality goals are achieved.

The key accountability of this role is to reduce the SG&A costs related to supply chain activities. For Business Units with third party logistics centers key accountability will also include inbound freight, warehouse oversight and carrier management for final mile shipments. The person must be comfortable dealing with both internal and external resources, the oversight of the logistics practice, including product availability, 3PL warehouse management & distribution and transportation operations. 
 

Essential Functions of the Role

  • Knowledge of concepts and application of modern logistics principles.
  • Understanding of efficiency principles in supply chain.
  • Analyze logistical problems and produce new solutions.

 

Work Experience Requirements

  • Number of Overall Years Necessary: 8-12
  • Experience in Supply Chain Management & Logistics.
  • Distribution Operations Management.
  • Logistics related project management.
  • Freight transport management.
  • Proven Leadership experience including competency in:
  • Communicating effectively and building relationships.
  • Managing indirect teams from different countries and cultures
  • Solving problems and making decisions.
  • Setting vision and strategy.
  • Managing change.
  • Demonstrating ethics and integrity

 

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and five plus years’ experience in supply chain, or an advanced degree with two plus years of experience in supply chain
  • Specialized Logistics/Freight management training (desirable)

Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge

  • Sound knowledge of Internal Warehouse Management System.
  • Ability to work logically and systematically.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions as well as think laterally and offer creative solutions. 
  • Strong analytical, written and oral skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize competing tasks.
  • PC Skills, MS Office (Advanced) and SAP.
  • Change management.
  • Verbal communication, both talking and listening.
  • Frequent telephone conference calls (including scheduled outside normal working hours).
